DEAR CENSOR: A short play in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Freedom to Read Week

February 25, 2014

7:30-9:00 pm (doors open at 7)

Using letters and lectures by authors Margaret Atwood, Lawrence Hill, Margaret Laurence, Rohinton Mistry and Ann Patchett, publisher Patsy Aldana and theatre-company president Sue Golding, local theatre group Birdtown & Swanville performs a short play about defending the written word against would-be censors. The Canadian Library Association’s Advancement of Intellectual Freedom in Canada Award and The Writers’ Union of Canada’s Freedom to Read Award will also be presented at this event.
