Freedom to Read Week Challenge

February 26 to March 4, 2017

Lambton County Library is inviting residents to join the "Freedom to Read Challenge" which runs February 26 through March 31, 2017. Participants are encouraged to create a written response as to why they think the selected books were banned or challenged. All submissions will be placed in a draw for a chance to win a $50 gift card to the Book Keeper. Entries can be submitted online at www.lclibrary.ca or at your local branch library. A list of the challenged titles is also available on the Library's website. "This event is meant to promote everyone's freedom to read - it's important that we do not restrict access to books, but ensure that materials are available to everyone", says Lise Babcock, Children's Services Coordinator at Lambton County Library. The Freedom to Read Challenge is being held in celebration of the Book and Periodical Council's annual Freedom to Read Week held this year from February 26 to March 4. For more information on that project, visit www.freedomtoread.ca.
