In acknowledgment of Freedom to Read Week, we hope you will join us for a conversation with local author Taylor Lambert about negotiating self-censorship (and external censorship) in our writing lives—particularly with respect to creative nonfiction and literary journalism. We’ll address the creative process, aspects of the writing life and topics related to our freedom of expression. Taylor Lambert is a freelance long form journalist and the author of several literary nonfiction books, including Rising: Stories of the 2013 Alberta Flood. His book Darwin’s Moving—an exploration of class divides in Calgary through the lens of the moving industry—won the W.O. Mitchell Book Prize in 2018. He is also the host of The Calgarian, a twice-monthly podcast featuring deep-dive interviews with interesting people in the city.
