Freedom to Look? On Art and Censorship

February 26, 2025

5:30 PM

Professor Andrea Korda, an art historian at the Augustana Campus of the U of A, will talk to us about the “freedom to look.” We will consider examples of censorship in the history of art and talk about what is at stake when we censor works of art. People age 16+ are invited to join us for this free event celebrating our freedom of expression in all its forms. Andrea Korda is an associate professor of art history at the Augustana Faculty of the University of Alberta. She is one of the organizers of the award-winning Crafting Communities project, co-curator of the virtual exhibition Photographies, and a contributor to the Unsettling Pioneer Museums in Alberta project. Her current research looks at the visual and material cultures of education in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
