Uncensored: Writing Workshop with Author Cordelia Strube

February 25, 2020

6:00 - 7:00 pm

Fiction is a dream or a nightmare, an idea, a platform - a device that allows the writer to vent, analyze, reflect, entertain, construct or deconstruct, possibly even to effect change. To celebrate our freedom to write uncensored, workshop participants will be encouraged to take chances, make mistakes and try new approaches in building narratives. Presented by Cordelia Strube, an accomplished playwright and the author of 10 critically acclaimed novels including Alex & Zee, Teaching Pigs to Sing and Lemon. Winner of the CBC literary competition and a Toronto Arts Foundation Award, Cordelia has been nominated for the Governor General's Award, the Trillium, the W.H. Smith/Books in Canada First Novel Award, the Prix Italia and long-listed for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. A two-time finalist for ACTRA's Nellie Award celebrating excellence in Canadian broadcasting, Strube is also a three-time nominee for the ReLit Award. Her most recent novel-winner of the Toronto Book Award-is On The Shores Of Darkness, There Is Light. Her 11th novel, Misconduct of the Heart, will be published in April 2020.
