In a civilized society, we don’t burn or otherwise destroy or restrict books — even when they make us feel uncomfortable. Freedom to Read Week begins Sunday and that’s a great opportunity to dive in to the Ottawa Public Library’s new report on requests to ban books. I emerged with a lovely, encouraging picture of our local freedom-to-think-and-read habits that should make us all proud. Pellerin: Book bannings?
