Today, the Book and Periodical Council’s Freedom of Expression Committee announced that Co-Campaign Directors Spencer Izen and Jessica Kim have been named the Champions of Free Expression for 2023 for advocating for the rights of student journalists.
The Student Press Freedom Act Campaign is deeply appreciative of this recognition of our work. We view this as a significant acknowledgement that student journalism and the rights necessary to conduct it matter, and further, that disregard for those rights is a matter of national concern.
